Overview

DissertationAI is a dissertation analysis tool that uses AI to provide structured feedback on academic writing. We take the privacy of your research seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

What We Collect

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and hashed password when you create an account.
  • Uploaded documents: The dissertation, proposal, or chapter files you upload for analysis. These are processed to generate your feedback.
  • Analysis results: The feedback, scores, and issues generated from your documents are stored so you can access them later.
  • Chat messages: Follow-up questions you ask about your analysis and the AI responses are stored for your conversation history.
  • Payment information: If you subscribe to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details — Stripe handles this securely.

How Your Documents Are Handled

  • Your uploaded documents are transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL).
  • Document text is sent to AI language model providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) for analysis. These providers process the text to generate feedback and do not retain it for training purposes under their current API data policies.
  • Your documents and analysis results are stored in our database (hosted on Supabase) and are accessible only to your account.
  • We do not share, sell, or distribute your documents to any third party beyond the AI processing described above.

AI Training

Your documents are not used to train or fine-tune AI models. We use the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, which under their API terms do not use submitted data for model training. Your research remains private.

Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your analyses and documents are retained as long as your account is active.
  • You can delete individual analyses at any time from your dashboard. Deleted analyses and their associated data are permanently removed.
  • If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate DissertationAI:

  • Supabase: Authentication and database hosting.
  • OpenAI & Anthropic: AI language model APIs for document analysis.
  • Stripe: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
  • Railway: Application hosting.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can export your analysis results from the dashboard at any time. For data access or deletion requests, contact us at the email below.
